About Us

The Cordova Iceworm Swim Team (CIST) provides sport swimming opportunities for youth ages 5–16 in Cordova, Alaska. As a member of Alaska Swimming/USA Swimming, the national governing body for the sport, CIST offers young swimmers a chance to learn, grow, and compete in a safe, structured, and encouraging environment.

CIST is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that thrives thanks to the dedication of parents and volunteers who give their time, energy, and skills to ensure the program’s success. From coaching support to organizing events, fundraising, and team communications, our volunteers are the heart of the program.

Our team is supported by program service fees, public and private donations, and the generous partnership of the City of Cordova, which provides access to the community swimming pool as an in-kind public donation. These contributions make it possible for CIST to continue delivering affordable and accessible swim programming to Cordova’s youth.

At CIST, we believe swimming builds more than just strong athletes—it develops confidence, discipline, teamwork, and lifelong skills. We’re proud to be part of a tradition of community-driven sports in Cordova, where parents, volunteers, and young athletes come together to make a lasting impact.
